IS THERE LOGIC IN THE ROULETTE WHEEL NUMBERS?

Playing games is an awesome way to get entertained and relaxed. For decades, casino games, in particular, have been the most prominent and relevant that have not only entertained but also allowed gamers to earn. Among those casino games that gamblers love to play for fun and make some cash from is roulette.

The casino roulette wheel was established by simulating a game from Italy called biribi. The name ‘roulette’ is French, meaning ‘little wheel’. In playing roulette, gamblers can place a bet on single numbers, groups of numbers, red or black numbers on the roulette wheel, even numbers or odd numbers, and if the number is high, a number between 19 to 36 or a low number between 1 to 18.

In determining the roulette wheel numbers for winning, the croupier will spin the wheel in one direction, and the ball will be spun on the opposite side. The ball is spun on the skewed circular track running close to the outer edge of the roulette wheel.

ROULETTE WHEEL NUMBERS LAYOUT

Looking at all the numbers on a roulette wheel, one may assume that the numbers are scattered in a random pattern or are in numerical order around the wheel. However, both of these assumptions are incorrect. All the numbers on a standard roulette wheel have a systemic layout, and the types of roulette affect the look of the wheel. The numbers that players choose is dependant upon what style of roulette they are playing. The two types of roulette are American roulette and European roulette. The primary differences between these two types of roulette are that the American roulette wheel numbers have two zeros on the cylinder, whereas the European roulette wheel does not. Let’s take a close look at the types of roulette wheels and their layouts.

American roulette

This type of roulette is rarely found. In American roulette, the wheel has 38 numbers. American roulette wheel numbers range from 0 to 36 with an additional double zero (00). The numbers on the wheel are split into 18 red and 18 black. The remaining two slots, which are 0 and 00, are green. These slots are arranged at the opposite side of the cylinder, and there are no adjacent numbers with the same colors on the wheel. The clockwise sequence on the wheel is arranged as follows: 0, 28, 9, 26, 30, 11, 7, 20, 32, 17, 5, 22, 34, 15, 3, 24, 36, 13, 1, 00, 27, 10, 25, 29, 12, 8, 19, 31, 18, 6, 21, 33, 16, 4, 23, 35, 14, 2.

This type of roulette is believed to have the highest casino advantage, which peaks at 5.25%. The reason behind this is the extra green slot with double zero.

EUROPEAN ROULETTE

European roulette is the leading version of roulette played in casinos. European roulette is played on a wheel with 37 pockets. Unlike American roulette, this roulette wheel only has a single green 0. European roulette wheel numbers range from 1 to 36, and are split evenly with 18 red and 18 black numbers, along with the green zero. On this wheel, the house edge is considerably lower when compared with American roulette. The casino advantage for this type of roulette sits at 2.6%. The clockwise number sequence on the European roulette wheel is arranged as follows: 0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2, 25, 17, 34, 6, 27, 13, 36, 11, 30, 8, 23, 10, 5, 24, 16, 33, 1, 20, 14, 31, 9, 22, 18, 29, 7, 28, 12, 35, 3, 26.

The final type of roulette is French roulette. French roulette is played on the European roulette wheel but with a slight change in rules. While playing French roulette, there is the en prison and la partage rules. These are related to when the ball lands on the green single zero (0) pockets.

ROULETTE WHEEL NUMBERS

The order of the numbers on each of the two types of roulette wheel may appear completely random. However, there is a reasoning behind this:

  • To confuse the players: this is one of the reasons why the numbers on the standard roulette wheel numbers are not arranged numerically. It is very hard for roulette newbies to keep track of the different numbers and sectors when they are all mixed up, making it difficult to follow. After playing many roulette games, players can fully understand the sequence of numbers and keep up with the numbers that come up.
  • Alternate colors: there is an even split of alternating red and black numbers on roulette tables. This alternation between red and black is present on both the American and European roulette tables.
  • High and low numbers: the low numbers, 1 to 18, and the high numbers, 19 to 36, on the wheel should alternate as much as possible. In the European roulette wheel, there is an exception where the five is next to the 10 – whereas in the American roulette wheel numbers, many sectors have adjacent low numbers and high numbers.
  • Distribution of odd and even numbers: the numbers on the roulette wheel are arranged with an equal distribution of odd and even numbers. No more than two odd or even numbers on the wheel are adjacent to each other.

WHAT ARE THE BEST NUMBERS ON THE ROULETTE WHEEL?

There are several great numbers to choose from when betting on a roulette wheel. However, according to expert bettors, 17, 23, 24 and 7 are the leading choices to bet on, with 17 the most popular choice. These numbers are seen as being in strategic positions. 17, in particular, has recorded a noticeable amount of wins on the roulette wheel, making it the best number to consider when playing roulette.
