Baccarat attack strategy

Some games come down to pure chance, and there is relatively little strategy involved in the gameplay. Online slots, for example, are infamous for being simple games with no real way to influence results. Other games are designed to take advantage of both skill and luck. These games allow players to tip the odds in their favor when using an effective game strategy. The baccarat attack strategy is one such approach.

So, what exactly is the baccarat attack strategy and how can you apply it to your next game? We’ve collected everything you need to know so that you can spend less time researching and more time playing!

What is baccarat?

Before we dive into the baccarat strategy, let’s have a look at the game itself. Baccarat rose to fame as one of James Bond’s favorite card games, but its history stretches far further than the character. While the exact origin of the game is still under debate, its popularity among French nobles in the 19th century is not. With time, the game spread to non-nobility too, with citizens often playing the game in private rooms before the legalization of gambling.

The game is simple. In layman’s terms, the game consists of two hands of cards: the ‘banker’, and the remaining players. The goal is for players to have higher scores than the banker. Note that your real opponent here is the banker, not necessarily the other players at the table. Baccarat has three possible outcomes. First, the player’s hand is better than the banker’s hand while not exceeding a combined value of nine. Second, the banker’s hand is better than the player’s hand. Third, the two hands are tied.

Rules of baccarat

The rules of baccarat vary slightly from variant to variant, however, the basic rules are easy to remember. Each game of baccarat consists of two-card hands. These cards are dealt to players and the banker at the start of the round.

You might wonder how players can routinely achieve a hand of nine or less given how many high-value cards are in a standard deck. This is achieved by giving face cards different values. More specifically, face cards no longer have any value. Players dealt a Jack and a five, for example, have a hand total of five. All numbered cards have the same value they always do, and Aces are worth ‘one’.

There are additional safeguards in place to ensure that hands remain as close to nine as possible. Any hand with a value higher than nine will have 10 points subtracted from the total. If your hand is valued at 13, for example, your new value will be three (13 minus 10).

You stand if you or the banker receive an initial value of eight or nine. If your hand is valued at five or less, another card will be dealt. With the exception of receiving an additional card, you will stand after your two cards are dealt. If you stand and the banker has a hand of five or less, they will take another card.

There are four outcomes to a game of baccarat. If you bet on the player hand and the player hand wins, you receive double your wager. If you bet on the banker’s hand and the banker wins, you receive 95% of your wager. If you bet on a losing hand, you lose your wager completely. Finally, if there is a tie game, your wager pays out at eight-to-one.

Baccarat attack strategy review

Let’s take a closer look at the baccarat attack strategy and how to use it.

What is it and how does it work?

The baccarat attack strategy is a relatively new strategy created by an online player, Greg Fletcher, on a baccarat forum. The strategy quickly attracted attention and has seen its popularity grow steadily. This is rather unique for a new strategy, as they often fall by the wayside as quickly as they rise. Its popularity comes from its effectiveness and simple approach.

This attack strategy encourages good timing and steady wager increases upon winning hands. More specifically, players using this strategy should never bet on tied hands. They should bet on either the player’s hand or the banker’s hand to win. Note that this does not mean you should raise your wager for every bet! Instead, increase your bet whenever you win.

There are four bet types in this strategy:

  • Starter bet
  • Trigger bet
  • Attack betting
  • Retrenchment betting

Your starter bet is the minimum bet allowed to enter the game. Your trigger bet is double your starter bet and takes place immediately after making your starter bet. If your trigger bet is successful, move into attack betting. Start with half of your trigger bet and increase your bet amount as long as you keep winning. Finally, retrenchment betting sees players increasing their bets continuously by their starter bet until they win. If you start with a $5 bet, for example, you will bet $10, then $15, on the next two rounds, respectively.
